Summer Vacation

Summer Vacation

In My Bloodstream: Lisinopril,  Amlodopine,  Omeprazole, Tamsulosin
On The Stereo: Smooth: Santana, featuring Rob Thomas

As Rob Thomas sings, "It's a hot one.  Like seven inches from the mid-day sun".  It is so.  We continue to golf in what might be intolerable heat.  Mad dogs and Englishmen.  And a Scottish-Canadian-American fool and his bride.  Just a hair short of crazy.  It does move us out of the house.  And that is a good thing.

I spent this morning at Moffitt, discussing a timetable for five surgeries.  We decided on two separate  times, working on one side, and then the other.  One shoulder, arm and thigh - then the other arm and thigh.  Dr. Harrington suggested both be done under anesthesia.  I persuaded him to operate with local  numbing, and that is what we will do.  That way I can keep an eye on his handiwork.

I now await a call from the operating room scheduler.

In any event, in order to spend some more time with Kath, prior to the re-opening of school, and to get myself looked after, I intend to take a short hiatus from my writing.  I know a number of you will celebrate this occasion in your  own ways.  A break for you, as well as me.

For those who steadfastly follow my ramblings, I ask for your patience and forgiveness.  I am not retiring.  Just taking a bit of "us time".  As soon as we complete the first round of surgeries, there will be lots of healing time at home.  Lots of writing time for me.  Work that I truly enjoy.  It replenishes my spirit.

I do realize how we need each other.  I will not be gone for long.  I need you too much.  I have viewed our relationship as symbiotic.  Cancer fights are made easier when your family and friends are by your side.  If any of you feel a need to talk, I will always be there for you.  Promise.  My surgeries are minor this time around.  More blood and mess at home, but easy sailing for us.
